At 4:40PM, my wife asked if the doctor called with the biopsy results. I said, “Not yet, but I’m sure they will. And maybe no call is good news.” That answer did not work; she stood at my desk holding the phone. “Call now.” Leaving a message with the Nurse Practitioner caused me to have further confidence that the report was “negative”. At 5:45, Lisa answered the phone. “Ray, it is for you.”
“Mr. Randall, I hate to give this information to you on the phone; however, one of the sites on your prostate is cancerous. It is a small area on the upper right.” Lisa had picked up the phone and tearfully asked for an immediate appointment with a surgeon.
Well, the saga continues, and I will add my experience to this blog. Many questions come to mind about my life expectancy particularly. Today, this news sets me back a bit; not sure what it means to my life yet. My youngest children know; the oldest don’t.
Much to learn as I proceed through a series of appointments and choices. Already decided to meet with a surgeon at Lahey Clinic specializing in laparoscopic procedures after talking with my primary doctor.
