The main advantage of curtain poles is that they are not only well-designed, functional, and practical, but also help in enhancing the appearance of your room in their own selective ways.

Unlike curtain tracks, they offer you wide variety of curtain headings such as pencil pleats for a traditional look and eyelet and tab top in case you prefer giving your room a more modernised appearance. Today, there are several online stores offering an impressive range of stylish poles to suit every home decor.

With curtain poles, you have the option of purchasing a full pole kit or you can also go for individual curtain accessories and poles. Pole kits generally include almost every curtain accessory you need, right from brackets and finials to rings according to the size of the pole (generally 1 ring for every 10 cm of the pole). Some pole kits also offer a good range of extra rings and holdbacks.

In case you are more particular about selecting your curtain accessories or are facing a problem of differently sized or oddly shaped windows, then you can purchase individual accessories and poles. You can follow the below given guidelines for getting the best and the most desirable results while purchasing individual curtain accessories:

Selecting the Brackets:
Usually, all poles require 2x-side brackets. Poles that are more than 180cm of length would also require a connector and a centre bracket. Bay windows require passing brackets for conjunction of flexible bay corners. These brackets help in providing immediate support to curtains. Moreover, when used with open-ended passing rings, they provide for free and easy movement of curtains. Double brackets are also available in the market for joining together poles such as those of length 25mm and 19mm.

Selecting the Pole:
Poles are commonly available in 3 lengths, 120cm, 150cm, and 180cm. Select a length that can sufficiently allow stacking back of your curtains to the window sides. Metal poles can be joined together with a connector or can even be cut to size. The wooden ones have a double end screw for joining them. For poles that are more than 180cm in length, you would require an extra centre bracket.

Selecting the Holdbacks and Finials:
Holdbacks and finials are curtain accessories that actually provide you with the opportunity of adding your individual style to the appearance of your windows. This is where you get a chance to explore some unique, unusual, and dramatic ideas for your windows and enhance your understated window treatment so it can beautifully blend with the overall appearance of the room.

Selecting the Curtain Rings:
It is always advisable to have 1 curtain ring for every 10cm of the pole.

For proper selection of curtain poles, it is also extremely important to take sufficient and accurate measurements of the poles you are planning to purchase. Measure the width and space required for curtains to draw back on either side of window. You also need to decide the place where you want to position the curtain pole. This can be either above a window frame on the wall or simply on the frame itself.
