You can change the appearance of your room by simply adding to it a perfect and the most suitable table lamp. Choosing a perfect table lamp that best suits your room can be a daunting task.
However, it is worth taking the trouble because a carefully selected table lamp can enhance the overall beauty of your room. Keep the following tips in mind before purchasing any type of lamp so you do not fail to choose a perfect and stylish lamp which suits the interior of your house.
* First of all before buying, consider the style of the furnishings of the room in which you are going to place a lamp. For instance, a geometrical shaped and designed table lamp would not suit a Victorian table. Traditional table lamps, especially the brass ones, look classic but would not fit in a room decorated in a modern style.
* The size of the lamp also needs being considered. The size of the lamp should match the size of the table or the room. For a narrow table, a small-sized lamp is a better choice while for a bulky and heavy table it is advisable to go for a large-sized lamp.
* The adequate measurement of the lamp is also required so it can throw proper light over your shoulder. When you read a book, the bottom of your lamp should reach up to your cheekbone so that it casts enough light on the pages you read.
* Table lamps come in vast assortment of different shades and colours. Select the shade and colour of the lamp according to the decor of your room so that it looks all the more sophisticated.
Dark or opaque lamps cast limited light and are a better option for gloomy passages or corridors. Lamp shades which are made from light coloured fabrics look more ethnic with translucent output.
* To illuminate your hall, bedroom or study, it is also necessary to consider the wattage of the lamp. For reading, you usually need a table lamp with 150 watts. It is also a good idea to choose a lamp with a shade which hides the socket of the bulb, so that the lamp looks more attractive from a distance and also reduces possibilities of a constant glare.
* To match the latest shabby chic interior design styles lamps with exceptionally cool designs have become the in-thing! Table lamps with traditional touch have been again successfully introduced in the market and have become another of the latest trends. These traditionally designed lamps can give your room a complete new look. To give the living room the latest and a soft glowing touch, you can place these ambience lamps in each corner of the room.
* In children's room, place the table lamps besides their bed. The bright lights of the ceiling are a bit harsh for children when they go to sleep. Table lamps cast very soft light so that your little ones are able to sleep comfortably.
* For those who like to read in bed so as not to disturb your partner because of the light, then small bedside table lamps are a great option. |
