Frustrated with your digital camera? It's okay. Been there, done that. Everybody, at some time or another, takes photos that they think will come out well but come out less than great. Perhaps you tried to take a picture of some artwork either you or your child has done, and the picture didn't come out so well. Or perhaps you wanted to take step-by-step photos of you cooking so you can post it on your blog but the food just didn't look luscious enough. Whatever the problem is, here are some tips to get your pictures coming out the way you want!
When taking pictures of food, you want to take advantage of any natural light. If your kitchen has a window, try moving the food by the window so that it gets the most amount of sunlight without being placed directly where the sun is hitting. You want to capture the beauty of the food you are preparing and there is no better way than to get the details. Move in close so that you can see the details of the food as well as eliminate any background clutter. Anything seen in the background is distracting and takes away from the subject.
Are you trying to get rid of your goods to make more space? You have several options here: give them away, have a yard sale, or sell it online! If you are selling online, then you need to take very good photos. Any fuzziness, blur, or distortion will definitely affect the final sale price of your item. Make sure you use a simple background. This could be your countertop, your table, or even your carpet. As long as the background is simple and is pleasing to the eye, it will make your item stand out more. Make sure you also get up close to the item. You want to show as much of the item as possible so buyers can see what they could potentially own. More object, way less background is the motto here.
From kindergarten to high school, your child has about 13 years of schooling, and all of that schooling is bound to produce some artwork that you feel should be kept. But after kindergarten, you might find that keeping all of the items will cause unnecessary clutter and mess so your best option is to take pictures of the artwork and store them in a photo album. You will want to take individual photos of every piece using a simple background with as much natural light as possible. If there are pieces that you find particularly handsome, then frame it! |
