If you are looking for information on how to deal with anxiety and panic attacks without using drugs, then I hope this article will provide some insight. Many people globally rely on drugs to manage their anxiety disorders. The drugs taken vary in ineffectiveness and efficacy. Examples include diazepam, alprazolam, clonazepam, oxazepam and buspirone. A serious drawback of such medicines is the side-effects and the drug dependence that they can cause.

Subsequently, many are turning to natural or drug-free methods of dealing with anxiety. And in other situations some prefer to use both medicines and natural remedies to manage their anxiety. However, if you want to use natural remedies for treating anxiety, what can you do?

Step 1: Remember; knowledge is power. That is, you need to empower yourself by reading for yourself as much as is possible about your anxiety disorder. Don't always wait for the doctor or psychologist to feed you information about your anxiety disorder. Do not be passive. Be proactive!

Step 2: As your read about your condition, put it in your own context. In other words, ask yourself whether what you are learning relates to your experiences with the anxiety disorder. How do you see the information you are learning, is it relevant to your circumstances and needs. Is it giving you a fresh perspective of approaching your anxiety disorder. If you are on the internet, get into anxiety forums and learn how other anxiety suffers have experienced anxiety disorders and how they deal with them.

As you read about your anxiety, keep your eyes open for quick wins or picks. Quick picks are the simple things you can apply immediately to alleviate your anxiety without spending a dime on an anxiety treatment program. For example, you do not need a psychologist to tell you what life-style changes you must make in order to cope better with anxiety. Such information is freely available on the internet. All that is required is time and the diligence to tap it.

Step3: When, it comes to how to deal with anxiety and panic attacks without using drugs, you have two options. You can either visit a psychologist or therapist or you can get self-help programs from the internet. The decision is yours to make but I believe more in self-help programs on the internet. Research has actually shown that some of these self-help programs are as effective as services offered by professional psychologists. Moreover, psychologists can be expensive, with some charging as much as $150 an hour.

If you decide to use online self-help programs, then be sure you fully understand what they have to offer before using them. Compare them and settle only on the best. Some things you may consider in evaluating these self-help programs are: how long they have been in use for- try and avoid programs that have no trek-record; how much do they cost; who are offering them and what are their credentials; are they based on established science and do they have a money-back guarantee.
