Fat babies and children have always been seen as cute. There are mothers who admonish their children to clean their plates everytime they eat a reminding them to that there are children in poverty-stricken countries who are actually dying of hunger. Although we don't want our children to become malnourished, forcing them to consume everything in their plates is not desirable as it can lead to excessive weight gain.

The wrong notion that being fat is healthy has resulted in countless cases of children growing up to be extremely fat adults. There are for sure a lot of people who trace their habit of overeating to their parents' misguided ideas about keeping their children fat. Unfortunately eating too much is not the only problem. Most of the time the issue is further compounded by the fact that many people who habitually overeat also consume the wrong kinds of food. If they refuse to be alarmed by their condition, they are very likely to end up being obese.

A person who is fatter than fat is already obese. In technical terms, when an individual's Body Mass Index or BMI exceeds 30, he or she is already classified as obese. Aside from the fact that being padded with too much fat can be quite disgusting, being obese can also result in many serious health consequences such as diabetes and high blood pressure.

Obesity is a worsening problem in America. Despite the fact that obesity has been said as having reached epidemic proportions in this country, the number of obese people continue to increase. What is even more alarming is that the problem is no longer restricted to just adults. There are now a growing number of obese children as well. This situation has led to numerous awareness and information drives by various media and health groups. Apparently however, not everyone still understands the seriousness of being obese.

Research has shown that there are certain elements produced by fat cells that cause different diseases to develop. These elements are called PEDF.

According to studies, there are certain elements that are produced by fat cells which lead to the development of various diseases. Since obese people have an excess of fat cells, they naturally have higher levels of protein in their bloodstreams compared to people who have a lesser concentration of fat in their bodies. The protein then sends a signal to the other tissues which in turn results in insulin resistance in the muscles and liver. Moreover, it was also found that increased levels of PEDF are linked to the release of fats into the bloodstream which in turn raises the risk of complications.

This should make people, especially parents, realize that in their attempt to fatten up their children, they might be unknowingly forcing them to develop negative eating patterns and habits which can lead to excessive weight gain and even obesity.
