In almost any home, space and layout are keys to harmony. The more organized the home is with shelving and cabinet space, the more space there is to move about and enjoy family activities. Wall space in a home is prime real estate for storage. It offers an alternative to stacks of boxes or items scattered throughout the room in a clutter. Wooden shelf systems are an effective, efficient way to provide stylish storage solutions. Shelving can be used for any area in the home, such as a laundry room, a bathroom or kitchen. They enhance a room's decor and improve its appearance.
Common Shelf System Applications
Bathroom Wall Cabinets
When considering bathroom wall cabinet installation, keep in mind the expected use. Is the intended wall shelf system going to be used primarily for storage? Is this space going to serve more as a decorative aesthetic function? Will it display decorative items or those more functional? Depending on the use, size, style and design may differ substantially, but they are used in bathrooms large or small. Some come with mirrors and glass built in, while others are simply woodwork.
Wall niches
While wall niches are primarily decorative, they do add significantly to the character and ambiance of a room. Although they are usually used to decorate bathrooms, a wall niche can be used effectively in other spaces as well. For example, they make a great display for decorative plants in a living room, an exterior walkway or interior hallway. Wall niches are simple features easily installed.
Kitchen Racks and Cabinets
A kitchen may be by far the most practical space in a home to install different types of shelf systems. Storage in a kitchen comes at a premium, especially when considering the necessary large appliances that take up so much room. This often leaves little room for pots and pans, elegant China, serving pieces, gadgets and small appliances that are seldom used. Spice racks, wine glass hangers and wooden pantry systems are all options for saving valuable space in the kitchen.
Using various shelf systems add form and functionality to almost any room in a home. Other things to consider besides function are material and design. Choose something that coordinates with existing decor. Considering the diversity of wood color, grain, and price, a range of possibilities are available for an upgrade of older shelf systems or when giving the interior decor of the home a facelift. |
