If you are hosting a baby shower for the first time, trying to figure out what you want to do at the shower can be a little intimidating. There are so many ways you can go about throwing a baby shower, but there are a few things you can take into consideration to narrow down your list of ideas.
First, think of the people you are inviting. What types of games or activities would most interest them? This may help narrow down the variety of baby shower game ideas you are looking at. When you are throwing a coed baby shower, your baby shower game ideas or options will be different than if the party was just attended by women.
A Few Baby Shower Game Ideas
Once you have all of the guests assembled, a good first game can be an introduction game, which can be a good icebreaker, especially if the guests don't know each other. Quite a few baby shower game ideas you will find are inherently silly or goofy. One kind of an icebreaker game involves toilet paper. Have a roll of toilet paper available and have everyone take as many sheets as they think they would use while they are camping. After everyone has taken their sheets of toilet paper, everyone has to tell something about themselves, one fact for every sheet of toilet paper they took.
You could also use a memory game as a baby shower game idea. Have a tray with a variety of products that a mother to be would possibly use on her newborn. For lotions and baby wash, use trial sized items. Other items could include pacifiers, a bottle, a baby blanket or anything else. Show the tray to all of the guests for a limited time, around 30 seconds. Put the tray away or take it in the other room where no one can see it. Hand out paper and pencils and have everyone write down as many items as they can remember that were on the tray. Whoever guesses the most items correctly is the winner.
With all baby shower game ideas, you will probably want to have a variety of prizes. Small prizes are just fine, and the guests really shouldn't expect much when it comes to these prizes, but it is a nice touch to have a few prizes available.
There are a wide variety of baby shower game ideas online and you can probably find quite a few at your local library as well. If you are planning to host your first baby shower, you may want to do a little research. Most of all, everyone should have fun, especially the mother to be or the parents to be. After all, the guests should be celebrating the arrival of the baby and not be too worried about prizes. |
