With thousands of people heading to the United Kingdom every year looking for holiday thrills, Cornwall has become one of the most popular travel destinations in the country. Most tourists, regardless of where they come from, look forward to one thing - spectacular virgin beaches on which to bask in the sun and to take in refreshing sea breeze. The Cornwall County is located on the far southwest tip of England and includes the Isles of Scilly.

Getting There:
You can get to Cornwall via car, train, or plane.
By Road. To travel by road, the county can be accessed via the A30, that starts at the end of the M5 in Exeter, or the A38 that crosses Tamar River. From London, you will reach Cornwall in 5 to 6 hours.
By Train. You can ride those that run on the main line from London to Truro and Penzance. It will take you about 5 hours. There is an overnight sleeper train Sunday and Friday nights that shuttle between London and Penzance.

By Plane. Newquay Airport, Cornwall's main airport, serves flights of Air Southwest, British Airways, Flybe, Isles of Scilly Skybus, Lufthansa, and Ryanair.

First stop-Truro City:
A good way to start your holiday is to visit Truro, Cornwall's only city. It has a marvelous cathedral completed in 1910, wide-ranging shopping opportunities, and impressive architecture. The Royal Cornwall Museum houses interesting exhibits devoted to history, culture, and geography. Admission is free, and that includes access to Courtney Library. Also, visit the Hall for Cornwall Theater where they perform musical, theatrical, and dance productions. Go hopping in the pubs, restaurants, and nightclubs littered across the city. On the other hand, if you want some quiet time, head to one of the parks.

Sunbathe and Swim:
Go to Newquay to experience the lovely beaches: Fistral, Towan, Great Western, and Tolcarne, among others. You should also check out Bude's beaches such as Summerleaze and Crooklets. The seemingly unending coastline of Cornwall offers a lot of beautiful stunning beaches, it will be hard to choose one that could be called the best of the lot.

Main Attractions in Cornwall
Here are some of the other interesting sightseeing destinations in Cornwall:

The Eden Project - it's a collection of flora and fauna from across the planet housed in space age transparent domes. It's a great place for nature lovers.

Land's End - England's southernmost point where the land meets the Atlantic Ocean. There is a theme park and in it are a lot souvenir shops.

Lost Gardens of Heligan - breathtaking landscape sceneries spanning 80 hectares.

Tintagel Castle - birthplace of King Arthur.

Where to Stay
There is a wide range of accommodation types that includes hotels, guest houses, self-catering houses, camping and caravan parks, and of course, bed-and-breakfasts. You can also find holiday homes and cottages scattered in coastal villages. One popular option for people taking a holiday in Cornwall is to rent a caravan at one of the many larger family holiday parks such as Perran Sands near New Quay, or Riviere Sands close to St Ives.

Apart from the outstanding coastlines, Cornwall also boasts of a warm climate, quaint fishing villages, beautiful countryside scenery, and a diverse cultural heritage. Its cultural tourism has been widely associated with visual and written arts making it one of the preferred holiday destinations in the UK.
