Keyshia gained an interest in music at an early age and some of her very first recordings were performed with legendary rapper MC Hammer when she was just 12 years old. Her first major album released was titled The Way It Is, and it hit the stores on June 21, 2005. At the time it debuted at number six on the U.S. Billboard 200 charts. That same year she released her first holiday classics album, which included Cole singing her own version of the Christmas tune "Silent Night." Several of her singles reached the top five in the charts including "Love" and "The Way It Is."
In addition, Cole has starred in her own reality show called Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is. The short-lived program was actually an attempt to further promote her recently released album. Her efforts were ultimately successful with critics giving the record high acclaim, and fans eagerly snatching up CDs at record stores across the country. She has also made an appearance in an MTV film released last year, called How She Moves. Cole portrayed herself in the movie.
Cole has only been on the music scene for a few years now, but in that short amount of time she has already made a big name for herself among the prominent rappers and hip-hop artists of today. Be sure to get to the record store early and beat the crowds so you can be guaranteed to walk away with her latest CD in your hand.
