The types of exercises that you perform is very important in your quest to lose tummy fat. Exercise plays a big role in increasing your metabolism. Not all exercises are created equally and so it is important to focus on exercises that targets your tummy (abdominal region). However if you have an abdominal workout machine or an exercise ball that would be an advantage as they will provide a full range of motion to work out all the lower and upper abdominals as well as the obliques at the same time.
