Baby boomers are people who were born during the post World War 2 baby boom, specifically those who were born between 1946 and 1964. Many of these people are now either retired or retiring. After a lifetime of work, many of these people will encounter what many of us jokingly call a mid-life crisis. It sounds funny but it's true. Thoughts like "What will I do when I retire?" "Will I still be of use when I'm done with my career?" Or, I don't want to feel inadequate when becoming old. Questions or thoughts such as these will start to creep in, when a lifetime of work is coming to an end.
Baby boomers are, in fact, aging. However, that does not mean that they are completely incapable. That does not mean that they can no longer work. Yes, their career is over, but that does not mean that it has to end there. Because of technological advancements such as the Internet, many baby boomers can now take advantage of the World Wide Web. Not all baby boomers are scared of a personal computer or a laptop. In fact, many of them are now utilizing social networking sites to find new or old friends. Baby boomers that might have online businesses are using blogs and other social networking sites to further their market. As a matter of fact, some of the widows, widowers, and divorcees are finding love online.
Many among us think that baby boomers are afraid of the Internet. This is simply not true. Many baby boomers are now using blogs as a way of sharing what they know. Baby boomers that use blogging as a way to connect with other people have risen in recent years. Furthermore, many people who belong in this demographic are using blogs to provide extra income through niches. As you have probably realized by now, baby boomers are still very much capable people.
As you can see, there are a lot of ways baby boomers can take advantage of blogs. Whether making new friends, finding old friends, generating income, or simply sharing their thoughts and experiences, blogging is a way for these people to express themselves individually, or as a group. In fact, more than 60% of baby boomers are overwhelmingly using socially made content such as blogs, forums, podcasts, and videos to connect with others. In addition, baby boomers who are participating in social networking sites are still growing. It's a clear sign that many of them believe that blogging and other social networking media have great advantages. |
