When it comes to making candles there is not a lot of candle making equipment you will need. This is a cheap, fun, and easy hobby to start. Candles make great decorations for around the home and they make great gifts for friends and family. To start there are only a few things you will need.

First you will need to think about how you will heat your wax. Some people use a double boiler. This is a very slow way of melting the wax which some people aren't happy with. You do want to melt your wax a little slow though. A slow cooker with a temperature setting is the perfect part of your candle making equipment, this allows you to choose the perfect temperature to melt your wax. These units are not very expensive so it would save you money to do it this way instead of wasting a lot of money on a candle wax burner that would be much pricier. This is the most important tool in the candle making process because you can replace the other equipment with other household items that can do the same thing.

You can use a pot holder to help you poor the wax without burning yourself. You will need something to poor the wax into for form the candle, if you are making a jar candle you just need a decorative jar to do so. You can find items like this anywhere. You can pretty much use anything that won't melt when the hot wax is poured into it.

You will need something to break the hard wax with before you start cooking it. You can use anything chisel like to do this. You should never use a sharp knife for this can cause serious injury. The blocks need to be broker up into smaller chunks so that they will melt faster.

As you can see there is little cost for this equipment. Most of the items needed can be found around the home. If you do not have one of these items you can always improvise with something else. There is no need to spend a bunch of money on expensive equipment found in arts and crafts stores except the necessities like the wax and the wicks.
