At some stage in your life you walk into your bathroom or kitchen only to discover that dreaded dripping/leaking tap. It can be so annoying especially at night-time if you are trying to sleep you can constantly hear the dripping noise. Many people tend to leave this on the long finger and never get it repaired quickly.
But, have you ever considered how much this is actually adding to your water bill and essentially you could be washing money down the drain. One thing that you may need to consider is hiring a plumber to take care of this leaking tap for you. It can be an expense upfront but in the long-term you could actually be saving some money.
You can try and tackle the job yourself and that's one thing that you should consider a few think it is a simple fix. Sometimes it is a simple leaking part of the faucets, which can easily be replaced. You simply need to take the tap apart and examine it to see if there are any worn or broken parts. There is a variety of faucets available on the market nowadays and they all have different configurations.
These include ceramic discs, compression faucets, balls and cartridges. If you know who the manufacturer is on your faucet you can simply visit their website and you should be able to get a diagram of your particular model. With this in hand you can get a better understanding of what parts you need. If this is an expensive faucet parts should be readily available from either the manufacture or from your local DIY store. However, you will find that many faucets in new homes are inexpensive and parts are unfortunately not ready available and you may have to face purchasing a brand-new faucet is a replacement. This can be rather more expensive and hopefully you will not have to go down this road and can simply purchase parts from the manufacture.
It is not the faucet that is leaking so maybe something else going on that you are not aware of. Water can be quite difficult to locate especially when a leak inquiry. It is one of the most difficult problems to repair if you do not have the experience. It gets to the stage where you think you are unable to locate where the leak is coming from you may need to call in a professional to help you locate and fix the problem. Sometimes they will have a fixed amount per hour or sometimes they will just have a fixed amount for solving your problem. Generally they have come across these types of issues all the time and I will used to estimate the cost and how long it would take to fix. |
