Clacton-on-Sea is the biggest town on the Tendring Peninsula in Essex, England. Founded in 1871, the town is a seaside resort that attracted thousands of tourists in the 60s and 70s, but has since then experienced a decline in tourism as people started travelling abroad.

The town has a pier, arcade, golf course, caravan parks, and an airfield, and offers plenty of peace to tourists who want to spend a relaxing weekend here. The beaches are still popular in the summer, and there is an annual Clacton carnival that is held every year in August, starting from the second Saturday of the month and lasting about a whole week. The Clacton air show, which takes place on the Thursday and Friday before the August Bank Holiday, is also a fun activity and has historic and modern aircraft featured in it.

There is also a great shopping area with many national chains like Woolworths and Argos, as well as a Factory Shopping Village in the north of the town. There are two theatres, the West Cliff Theatre, and the Princes Theatre.

The Orchards, a resort set along the beautiful Essex coastline, is an ideal place to stay when holidaying in Clacton-on-Sea. There are many sandy beaches to enjoy as well as nature reserves to see. You can also spend your time at the resort taking part in pool games or just take in the summer sun on the terrace, while your children play in the pool. There is also a nine-hole golf course in the park. All this makes it a great holiday place for the family.

There are also kids' clubs for different age groups. The Little Clubs is for children between one and four years of age, the Club R&B is for those from age five to eleven, and T-Co. Zone is for children between the ages of twelve and sixteen. Each has its own activities during the day, and the children are kept occupied most of the day in enjoyable and safe activities.

The site also has all the amenities you could need during your weekend here. There is a grocery store, a bakery, an off-license, restaurants and bars, as well as gift shops for buying souvenirs. There are also a lot of events that take place in the entertainment centre, including live bands and performances, comedy shows, variety shows, and Circus skills shows.

Just twenty minutes away from Clacton-on-Sea, you can easily drive into town to take in a show at one of the two theatres, or just explore the town and its beaches. You can also drive to nearby towns like Colchester and take in a bit of history and culture.

Clacton-on-Sea, and its resort 'The Orchards', is a great place to spend a weekend holiday to recharge during the summer months without spending too much money on a holiday abroad. You can enjoy the beaches, the children can enjoy the club activities, and you can also take in the history and culture of the surrounding towns.
