The Florida-based band Dashboard Confessional will be joining rockers Bon Jovi on several of their tour dates in early spring and, in addition, will be headlining their own shows. The band is going to kick things off with a headlining show in Portland, Ore. on Feb. 18, then climb onboard the bus with Bon Jovi for several dates starting Feb. 19.
Dashboard Confessional released their sixth studio album called After the Ending in November. Frontman Chris Carrabba was quoted on the band's website as saying, "I feel like this is the beginning of something new. It's a really good feeling. And I haven't felt like this since Swiss Army Romance. I have no idea what will be next, but this feels like a new start." See the group perform some of their new hit singles live onstage, like the popular "Belle of the Boulevard." Get your Dashboard Confessional tickets online today.
After the Ending features two discs: one with studio versions of all of the tracks and the other with acoustic-only versions. The group lends itself well to acoustic ballads; Carrabba recently gave an interview to Alternative Addiction, emphasizing the reasoning for releasing the double disc set: "We were all sitting around a coffee table playing [the acoustic version of one of the songs] and we really how it sounded, so we decided to set up some mics and record it."
Dashboard Confessional first began in Boca Raton, Fla., fronted by Carrabba. Known for his mix of passionate lyrics and simple acoustics (listeners got a taste of his musical direction on the solo effort, Swiss Army Romance) he spearheaded the ideas for his new outfit and collectively the group released the Drowning EP in 2001, followed shortly by their full length effort, The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most.
It seems without a doubt that the members of Dashboard Confessional (perhaps especially Carrabba) are committed to collaborations and new releases. Over the course of the next few years the band issued many different EPs and albums, including So Impossible, Summers Kiss, A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Star and even contributed one of their tracks ("Vindicated") to 2004's Spider-Man 2 movie.
By the time their fourth studio album Dusk and Summer arrived in 2006, Dashboard Confessional was a well-known name in the music industry; Dusk and Summer occupied the number two spot on the Billboard charts as they promoted the effort by going on tours with groups that included Brand New and Say Anything.
The Shade of Poison Trees landed in stores in October 2007 and featured the tracks "Thick as Thieves," "Keep Watch for the Mines" and "Fever Dreams." It was also another popular effort for the band and paved the way for 2009's full-length After the Ending.
Dashboard Confessional has expanded its reach over the years, in part because of Carrabba's extensive outreach to others in the music community but also because he and his bandmates have a careful eye for crafting beautifully passionate songs that stir our emotions. See them perform live! |
