Coldplay's latest album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends may have been released over a year ago and the British band may already be rumored to be working on its follow-up, but they nonetheless released their new video for "Strawberry Swing," the next single off the Grammy-winning album, on July 20. The reason for the delay is that the video for "Strawberry Swing" uses stop-animation, taking the creativity used on the video for "Life in Technicolor ii" (which features puppets!), a few steps further.

"Life in Technicolor ii" is the sequel to the epic, instrumental opening track on Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends and appears on the Prospekt's March EP. Directed by Dougal Wilson, the video for "Life in Technicolor ii" opens with a group of children watching a Punch & Judy-like puppet show featuring the band performing in miniature, puppet fashion.

Art collective Shynola, also behind memorable clips like Radiohead's "Pyramid Song," Beck's "E-Pro" and Stephen Malkmus' "Jo Jo's Jacket," directed the video for "Strawberry Swing." It was the first project taken on by Shynola after one of its four members passed away in October. "Strawberry Swing" will receive a digital release on September 14 and the video, which features Coldplay frontman Chris Martin living out every child's superhero fantasy, was also screened before audiences watching The Proposal and Bruno on July 22 in the U.K.

The band is currently in the midst of a tour in support of Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, which launched in West Pam Beach on May 15 and has fans scrambling to get their hands on coveted Coldplay tickets, which are available online. Those who do manage to score tickets will also receive a copy of a free album called LeftRightLeftRightLeft, which is being distributed on Coldplay's tour. According to a statement issued by Martin, the band decided to hand out the album free-of-charge because, "Playing live is what we love. This album is a thank you to our fans-the people who give us a reason to do it and make it happen."

While Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends is a tough act to follow-it did debut at Number One in 17 countries, rack up seven Grammy nominations and sell nearly seven million copies, after all-Coldplay has begun work on its follow-up with Brian Eno. The prolific producer is taking a different approach with the band, however, as MTV.com reported in February that Martin was banned from the studio as a sort of experiment. Guitarist John Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman and Will Champion were working with Eno in a London studio prior to kicking off their tour while Martin was stowed away in another studio.

A studio mole posted a statement on Coldplay's site reading, "Chris has been banned from the studio for these first two weeks. No, before the rumor mill cracks its way excitedly into life, this does not indicate any kind of split in the camp. This is an experience of Brian's," but there has been no official news on whether the U.K. band is working on an EP or an LP.
