There are many different types of science lab supplies. Depending on what type of science you are studying, what type of experiments you are testing, and what you want to own in your own collection - you will need to be equipped with differing supplies.

Some of the main supplies that can be categorized and organized include measuring tools, general lab equipment, glassware and plastic ware, chemicals, and safety equipment. These various categories can help you decide what supplies you need and will start you on your way to getting a complete set of tools for your own lab.

Measuring tools are a key supply for many science experiments. Thermometers, rulers, measuring cups, and pipettes are essential equipment for most experiments by ensuring accuracy and adding control.

There are many different styles of these tools. For example, one of the standard 12" lab thermometers can be used for traditional measurements, or one of the digital instruments can be used for very accurate and easy recording of temperature or pH level.

Graduated pipettes allow for very accurate liquid measurements. These differing styles are developed to be better and easier to use.

Lab equipment can be important for more in-depth science experiments, but can also just be fun or add convenience when working on a project.

These items include calorimeters, chemical scoops, thistle tubes, funnels, droppers, ring stands, burettes, glass tubing, tongs, clamps, corks, rubber stoppers, tweezers, and other various items. These lab items assist and often make experimenting easier as you learn and research.

Glassware and plastic ware are important for holding chemicals. Be aware that some chemicals can be dangerous. Some may react differently with glass and plastic so complete some research before choosing which material is best for you.

The glassware and plastic category would include items such as glass beakers, flasks, test tubes, graduated cylinders for measuring liquids, bottles, crucibles, evaporating dishes, funnels, watch glasses, and stirring rods.

Glassware and plastic may be easily overlooked. But, they are likely to be one of the first things you will miss as well.

Make sure that you have enough of these containers and other necessary tools before starting an experiment. Alcohol lamps and burners are also a great tool to use when experimenting.

Lab suppliers now have easy-to-use wickless alcohol lamps and burners that give off a hot and consistent flame. These are great to use in lab experiments or for heating things for a science project.

You'll also find butane burners, extra-safe lab burners, and traditional wick-style alcohol lamps to produce the heat you need to complete your experiments.

Chemicals and other material can add wonder and excitement to any experiment. When using chemicals, make sure you read any warnings that are listed on the bottle's label.

Use the chemicals responsibly understanding basic chemistry before adding chemicals into a lab experimental setting.

The chemical category includes acetic acid, calcium oxide, cobalt, lithium chloride, magnesium chloride, silver nitrate, sulfur, and zinc powder - which are just a few of the many chemicals that can be found in a lab.

These chemicals can be fun to use and can produce surprising results. Especially when mixing and using chemicals, make sure that you do not take safety lightly.

Safety equipment is important. Before doing an experiment you should be aware of the possible dangers. This will help you to avoid accidents and injuries.

If you're doing a lab that involves chemicals, protect yourself with the right safety equipment. Select from lab aprons, heavy-duty chemical-resistant gloves, and safety splash goggles.

All of these different pieces come in adult and child sizes so you can find the right size. Doing this will give you good coverage and provide more safety than a size that is too small.

It will also help to prevent danger that can occur from tripping on an oversized apron or goggles that easily slip off. If you want a good mix of all these tools, to start your own basic lab, you may want to look into getting a lab equipment kit.

You can find several different types on the internet or from lab supply stores. Lab supply kits are a simple way to get started with the basic tools you need to experiment.

Gathering lab science supplies can be an exciting and important step to scientific experimenting. Make sure that you have all the necessary tools before starting an experiment.

Be sure to have fun and be creative with science that will lead to the discovery of new things. When experimenting, always make safety your number one priority.
