Technology is a great thing. How long would it take to do everything that we do on a daily basis without the use of the wonderful gadgets that have made our lives simpler? One of those devices that has managed to make our lives much simpler especially in the office is the colour copier.

The first photo copiers were available back in 1949 and it revolutionised the way that people worked in the office, where items would have to be copied either onto personal computer and then stored or re-written people could suddenly just quickly and simply perform copies of documents.

It wasn't long after the invention of photocopiers that the first colour copiers appeared. However back then the cost to acquire colour copiers was astronomical, not many companies could afford to purchase these products. As time has progressed, the components that are used to make the colour copiers have become cheaper and cheaper, the frequency of sales has increase exponentially. It is now quite common that you will walk in to an office and find colour copiers lurking somewhere within the four walls of the building.

Some companies assume wrongly that they don't need a photo copier. However, if you asked any company who already had a copier to give it up the answer would be a short and resounding no. This is simply because the people have found out just how useful the product is. The same could be said about mobile phones. Before 1997 not many of us probably had a mobile phone. However, compare that to today and you will probably find that nearly everyone has a mobile phone. Children at school have mobile phones these days, why? I'm not exactly sure, but they still have them. My nana even has a mobile phone, she doesn't always know how to use it, but she still has a mobile phone. Now here is the real point of this exercise. You ask any one of them to give it up. It won't happen. People have become so reliant on the mobile phone that they would never give it up.

Could we survive with colour copiers? I would imagine that we could, but it would certainly make life harder than we need it to be. So if you don't currently have a photo copier in your office and you find that your staff are wasting man hours producing duplicates of work, maybe it would be wise to invest in a copier in 2010.
